The book "The American Ju-Jutsu" was published in 1949, the year. While in America of such martial arts as karate, hardly anyone had heard, and all the fashion arts focused on judo and jiu-jitsu. Due allowance allowance went the same techniques for self-defense. This book was a pleasant exception - not counting the most common techniques, she gave fast and, most importantly, real skills of defense against any attack, including machetes. It was written by Edward Allens and initially contained therein technology designed for fast training of soldiers, hence their high application efficiency and absence of complex techniques in the form of shots that are quite difficult to apply on the battlefield.
